Ingredients

  • All-Purpose Flour: 2 cups (sifted)
  • Unsalted Butter: 1 cup (cold, cubed)
  • Granulated Sugar: ½ cup (divided)
  • Ground Almonds: 1 cup
  • Eggs: 2 (1 for dough, 1 for filling)
  • Milk: 2 tbsp (whole milk preferred)
  • Vanilla Extract: 1 tsp (optional)

Instructions

  • Make the Dough: Mix flour and sugar, cut in cold butter until crumbly. Add 1 egg and milk; form into a dough, chill for 1 hour.
  • Prepare the Filling: Combine ground almonds, sugar, 1 egg, and vanilla. Mix until smooth.
  • Assemble: Roll out dough, cut into rectangles, and spoon almond filling onto half. Cover with another rectangle and seal edges.
  • Bake: Brush with egg wash, bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25 minutes or until golden brown. Cool before serving.
