Ingredients
Scale
Base Ingredients
- 1 cup fresh cranberries, washed
- 2 cups freshly squeezed orange juice
- 1 cup cranberry juice (optional for enhanced tartness)
- 2 crisp apples (e.g., Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), thinly sliced
For the Sparkle
- 4 cups chilled ginger ale (regular or diet)
For the Spice
- 4 cinnamon sticks, whole
Optional Garnish
- Orange slices
- Rosemary sprigs
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Ingredients
- Wash the fresh cranberries under cold water to remove impurities.
- Slice the apples thinly into wedges, keeping the skin on for added flavor and visual appeal. Set aside.
Step 2: Mix the Juices
- In a large mixing bowl or pitcher, combine the freshly squeezed orange juice and cranberry juice. Adjust the sweetness or tartness by varying the ratio (e.g., 2 parts orange juice to 1 part cranberry juice).
- Stir gently with a wooden spoon, taste, and adjust to your preference.
Step 3: Add Fruit and Spices
- Add the prepared cranberries and apple slices to the juice mixture. Stir to distribute the fruits evenly.
- Drop in the cinnamon sticks, ensuring they are submerged for even flavor infusion. Let the mixture sit for 10–15 minutes to allow the spices and fruits to meld with the juices.
Step 4: Add the Fizz
- Just before serving, pour the chilled ginger ale into the mixture. Gently fold with a spoon to combine without losing the carbonation.
- Serve immediately to preserve the freshness and sparkle.
Step 5: Garnish and Serve
- Pour the punch into glasses or a punch bowl with ice (optional). Garnish with fresh orange slices or rosemary sprigs for an added festive touch.
Notes
- To prepare ahead, mix the juices and fruits, but keep the ginger ale separate. Add it right before serving for maximum fizz.
- For an adult twist, add a splash of rum, vodka, or sparkling wine.
